Principal's Message

February: A Month of Growth and Goals 🌟 Dear Parents and Families, As we turn the calendar to February, the energy on our campus is building. This month is a pivotal time for our students as they move from the "learning the ropes" phase of the year into a season where they truly showcase their growth. February is packed with opportunities for our students to shine, but it also marks the beginning of several important academic milestones. 📝 Important Testing Updates This month, our students and staff will be focused on two key assessment areas: Benchmark Testing: These "check-ins" help our teachers see exactly where students are excelling and where they might need a little extra boost before the end-of-year assessments. It is a chance for students to practice their stamina and show off what they’ve learned so far! TELPAS Testing: For our emergent bilingual students, the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) window opens soon. This assessment measures progress in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English. We are so proud of the linguistic diversity on our campus and look forward to seeing our students’ language skills soar. 🗓️ Attendance Matters: Every Day Counts With testing and intensive instruction underway, consistent attendance is more important than ever. Every lesson missed is a building block lost. We want our students to feel confident and prepared, and the best way to ensure that is by being in the classroom every day, on time. Goal: Help us reach our campus attendance goal of 98% this month! Let’s work together to make sure our kids don't miss a single "lightbulb moment." 🤝 A Partnership for Success We often say that it takes a village, and we truly mean it. We encourage all our parents to stay active and engaged: Be a Positive Role Model: Show your child that learning is a lifelong journey. Talk to them about what they are learning in school and celebrate their effort, not just their grades. Stay Informed: Check folders, read our weekly emails, and stay connected with your child’s teacher. The "Power of Presence": Whether it’s volunteering for a school event or ensuring a quiet space for homework at home, your presence in your child’s educational life is the greatest predictor of their success. Thank you for your continued support and for being such vital members of our school family. Let’s make this February a month of progress, positivity, and pride! Sincerely, Mrs. A. Almanza Principal
