A new initiative is taking root at our school, promising to make a significant impact on our youngest learners. The Literacy Power Program is officially launching, pairing enthusiastic student volunteers with first and second-graders who need an extra boost in their reading skills.
This peer-to-peer tutoring system not only provides essential one-on-one attention for developing readers but also fosters a sense of mentorship and responsibility among our older students. The volunteers will work with the younger students on phonics, fluency, and comprehension, helping them build the confidence to become strong, independent readers.
We are in need of student volunteers who are seeking to make a difference and collect community service hours.
