The LISD Fine Arts Department hosted the Mustang Team Feeder Pattern Fine Arts Extravaganza. The entertainment included the Mustang Feed Pattern Elementary Choir, Milton Elementary Ballet Folclórico, Nixon High School Ballet Folclórico, Lamar Middle School Mariachi, Lamar Middle School Orchestra and Band, and Nixon High School Cheerleaders and Band.

We had an incredible turnout at our Summer STEAM Parent Night last week! It was wonderful to see so many families eager to dive into the world of innovation and creativity.
During the session, parents got an inside look at our upcoming Summer Academy and discovered how a hands-on approach to learning can give their children a competitive edge. From coding breakthroughs to artistic masterpieces, we’re ready to make this summer unforgettable.

As we prepare for this special occasion, we are collecting formal and semiformal gowns for our young ladies and Tuxedos and sports coats and ties for our young men to provide them with memorable attire for their prom night.

Laredo ISD Special Education Department hosted the 2026 Special Olympics Texas Area 21 opening ceremony and games at historic Shirley Field. Special education students from Laredo ISD, Jim Hogg County ISD, Webb County Consolidated ISD and Zapata County ISD participated in a variety of events. Each student received a medal for every event they participated in.
Gallego Elementary School hosted, author Claudia Villarreal who did a special reading of her book, “The Bully Who Learned to Love” to third grade students for Read Across America Week. The student also took a pledge not to Bully anyone.

The Laredo Independent School District is hosting its sixth annual Scholars Golf Tournament on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Casa Blanca Golf Course.
Funds raised from the Golf Tournament will benefit scholarships for deserving graduating seniors from the Hector J. Garcia Early College High School, Raymond and Tirza Martin High School, J.W. Nixon High School, and Dr. Leonides Cigarroa High School
We are continuing to seek sponsors and teams for the tournament. If you need more information on being sponsor or want to register a team, please contact Bobby Trevino at rwtrevino@laredoisd.org or by phone at 273-1732.

Let’s paint a picture with our words! This week, our focus is on the word Describe.
Definition: To tell or write about something; to give a detailed account of what something looks like, sounds like, feels like, or implies.
How can we practice this week?
Students: Don't just say "It was fun." Describe what made it fun! Was it the loud music? The fast game? The funny jokes?
Parents: At dinner, ask your child to describe one specific thing they learned today using 3 adjectives.
Staff: Challenge students to use descriptive language in their answers—let's move beyond "yes" or "no"!

Spreading holiday cheer! ✨ The incredible Gallego Choir brought the magic of Christmas carols to local nursing homes, filling the halls with beautiful music and joy. 🎶 They earned their treat: a delicious lunch and fun time at the Arcade!

A huge shoutout to all the students who participated in this year’s Code Monkey Campus Code-a-Thon! 🚀 From loops to logic, these coders dove deep into the fundamentals and came out on top.
It wasn’t just about writing code; it was about problem-solving, debugging, and having a blast while doing it. We are so impressed by the focus and creativity we saw today!
